Houston SaberCats Signs Nikoloz Khatiashvili

The Houston SaberCats signed Nikoloz Khatiashvili for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 28-year-old tighthead prop (29 in May) is 5’10” and 260 lbs. He also gives the team versatility as he played loosehead prop with Enisei-STM last season.

Nikoloz is from Tbilisi, Georgia, and attended Saint Joseph Saint Eugène. He played rugby for Stade Aurillac Cantal Auvergne in the French Pro D2 league from 2014-2017, making 41 appearances. He signed with the Super Rugby Sunwolves for the 2017-2018 season and made 3 appearances. In 2018 he returned to the French Pro D2 league with Soyaux Angoulême XV Charente and made 3 appearances. During the 2019-2020 season, he played with Enisei-STM in Russia.

Georgia National Team

Nikoloz made his national team debut as a starter for Georgia against Uruguay at Tbilisi on June 13, 2015. He then played against Emerging Italy 4 days later as a reserve. He then played against Fiji on June 24, 2016, before the last of his 4 matches away in 2017 against Argentina.
