Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

The New England Free Jacks re-signed Josh Larsen for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The  26-year-old lock (27 in April) is 6’5″, and 245 lbs. Josh, who was named as the team’s 2020 captain, started all five matches for the Free Jacks during their truncated MLR season. Rugby ATL signed Lincoln Sii for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old tighthead/Loosehead prop (24 in May) is 6’0″ and 269 lbs. Lincoln is from Temecula, California, and attended Great Oak High School from 2012-2015. He played football as an offensive and defensive lineman and began playing rugby in 2015 for the Temecula Mountain Lions. He attended Grand Canyon University from 2015 through his graduation in April 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. The Dallas Jackals signed Josateki Degei for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 23-year-old fullback (24 in January) is 6’2″ and 195 lbs. Josateki is from Sigatoka, Fiji, and attended Ratu Kadavulevu School, and then Lodoniversity. In 2016, Josateki joined the Suva Stallions Rugby Club and Suva Rugby. The Suva Stallions Rugby Club is part of the Escott Shield Premier league. Suva Rugby, a Fiji Rugby Provincial Club, is the oldest and largest provisional union in Fiji. The Seattle Seawolves re-signed Tim Metcher for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 29-year-old tighthead prop is 5’11” and 255 lbs. Tim played in all five games for the Seawolves during the truncated MLR season, starting three of them. He then played nine games with Southern Districts at tighthead prop in the Shute Shield competition in Sydney, Australia. Tim had an outstanding 2019 MLR season playing in all 18 matches, starting 17 times and playing 924 minutes. He carried 38 times for 149 meters, added 139 tackles, and scored one try. Tom is from San Rafael, California, and played rugby and football while at Terra Linda High School. LA Giltinis Release The LA Giltinis have confirmed the appointment of highly regarded Australian Rugby Executive and former Wallaby Adam Freier as the organization’s General Manager for its maiden MLR season set to kick off in March 2021. Freier brings a world-class and unique skill set to the MLR, having played a significant role in Australian Rugby across Marketing, Digital, Media/Communications and Community Rugby, as well as a 15-year professional playing career. Cristian will play on the Ohio Aviators at the World Tens Series in Bermuda, which is being held October 24-November 7. New England Free Jacks re-signed Poasa Waqanibau through the 2022 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old wing/center (27 in May) is 6’2″, and 230 lbs. During the 2020 shortened MLR season, Poasa started all five matches, including two at the center and the other three at wing. San Diego Legion signed Peter Malcolm for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old hooker (27 in March)  is 6’1″ and 240 lbs. Peter was signed by Austin Elite Rugby for the inaugural 2018 MLR season. He was named captain, however, a pre-season knee injury derailed his playing during the regular season. Old Glory DC signed utility back Daniel Thomas for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. Daniel will be 26-years-old at the end of this month. He played flyhalf, while at UCLA and can also play scrumhalf. Daniel is from Farnham Common, England, and moved to the United States prior to attending high school.
