Rugby Utah Men’s Premier Division Playoffs Begin

Salt Lake City, UT–The inaugural Rugby Utah Men’s Premier Division (MPD) season finished its regular season play after 6 weeks of matches with the Utah Brothers (6-0) topping the league table with 26 points.
The Brothers had two narrow victories to cement their top of the table standing over the second-place Salt Lake Spartans in week five by the score of 18-17 and over the West Valley Lions (3-3) in week three by the score 32-31.
With the #1 seed the Brothers enter the MPD postseason this weekend set to face #4 seed West Valley at 11am MT at Olympus High School in the first semifinal on October 22nd.
The second MPD semifinal will pit the #2 seeded Salt Lake Spartans (5-1) against the Salt Lake Gladiators (4-2). Kick-off for the second semifinal is set for 1pm MT at Olympus High School on October 22nd.
The winners of Saturday’s semifinals will face-off for the coveted Iosepa Shield on October 29th at the Regional Athletic Center.
“This season has been nothing short of impressive,” said Ishmael Tilialo, Director of Men’s Premier Division, “These teams have played some great rugby and showed what can be done if the rugby community works together. We’re looking forward to seeing how the playoffs progress and who ends up lifting the Iosepa Shield.”
The regular season’s respective #5 and #6 seeds of Park City Haggis and United Men’s Club will face-off on October 29th during the MPD finals at the Regional Athletic Center.
