Miami Sharks Obtain Michael Hand on Loan

The Chicago Hounds loaned former USA U20s Michael Hand to the Miami Sharks for weeks 8 through 11 of the 2024 Major League Rugby season before returning to the Chicago Hounds. The 23-year-old wing is 6’4 and 230 lbs.

Michael was born in Connecticut and grew up in Ireland. He attended Presentation Brothers College from 2013 through his graduation in 2019. He was an All-Ireland Champion Medalist for three consecutive years in the 4×100 relay and played rugby in the Junior and Senior Cups, as well as for Munster U18s in 2018. He was also selected for the USA U20s in 2020 but didn’t compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic cancellation of the competition.

Micheal attended University College Cork from 2019 through 2023, earning a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Business/Commerce. He also was an exchange student at Baylor University during his junior year and was the vice-captain of the rugby club.

Michael played rugby for Cork Constitution FC Rugby Club in the All-Ireland League. He was selected for the USA Falcons squad for the 2024 Coral Coast Sevens in Fiji.
