RUGBY UNITED NEW YORK OPENS SUMMER CAMP AND COMBINE SERIES IN ORCHARD PARK

NEW YORK (July 24, 2019)- New York’s professional rugby franchise, Rugby United New York, announced the first date in their 2019 Summer Camp and Combine series. The first camp is set to kick off on August 10th in Orchard Park, NY.

Rugby United New York enjoyed a successful Summer Camp and Combine Series in 2018 which saw over 200 athletes attend over the course of 3 different camps. Many of the attendees went on to attend Rugby United New York matches throughout their inaugural Major League Rugby season.

“As a Major League Rugby franchise, it is important to try and connect with our local rugby community,” RUNY General Manager James English said. “These five-hour camp sessions give us an opportunity to interact with our fans like never before.”

The camps can also be a spring-board for athletes looking to get on the coaching staff’s radar. After strong showings at last year’s camps, several athletes earned inclusion into the larger RUNY training pool and the RUNY academy side. Most recently, that academy side defeated the Men’s Collegiate All Americans “East” team.

“With our Academy side in full swing, these combines are more important than ever,” English continued. “We can identify young, up and coming athletes and pull them into our pathway, with the hope that someday they will help us win MLR championships.”

The Orchard Park camp will begin at 10 AM and go throughout the day, with an end time set for 3 PM. The address for the camp is 3870 Sheldon Road, Orchard Park, NY. It only costs $35 to attend, which includes a free t-shirt. Lunch will not be provided. You can sign up for the camp, with limited space, here.

At the conclusion of the camp and combine, RUNY will be hosting a Questions and Answers session, free of admission and open to all. The session will be held at Kettles (3719, Abbot Road, Orchard Park, NY.) You can sign up for the session here.
