Dartmouth Women’s Rugby Release

HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women’s rugby head coach Katie Dowty has announced the addition of Stacey Bridges to her staff for the 2016 season.

Bridges is currently a member of USA Rugby’s Women’s National Team and played in the 2010 World Cup.

“I’m excited to join and add to the great team of coaches and staff at Dartmouth and the women’s rugby program,” Bridges said. “I look forward to being a part of the growth of rugby amongst Ivy programs and providing players the opportunity to learn, grow and develop within the expanding collegiate rugby setting.”

A 2010 graduate of Texas A&M, Bridges was not only a member of the Aggies during her time in College Station, but also a member of the US U20 National Team from 2006-09. She would go on to earn a masters degree in kinesiology from UTEP in 2015.

“Thanks to the generosity of our Friends and collaboration with DP2, we’ve been able to make a wonderful addition to our staff,” Dowty said. “Stacey is exactly the person we needed to support our growing program. Her knowledge on the field, in the weight room and her understanding of culture and leadership will be invaluable to us.

“Stacey is the current Women’s National Team captain and will continue her training for the 2017 World Cup in Ireland in addition to her coaching duties,” Dowty added. “Watching her preparation and dedication to the sport, being able to tune-in and watch her play in international matches, all while training side-by-side with her, will be such an inspiration for our team. We couldn’t be more excited – it’s the best thing that could have happened for the program this year and she has already made a huge impact this season.”

Prior to joining the Big Green, Bridges spent time as an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota (2014-15) and most recently at Navy (2016). Additionally, Bridges was a 7s coach for Totino-Grace High School (2013) in Fridley, Minnesota.

Bridges also continues to play with the Twin Cities Amazons of the Women’s Premiership League. She has been a team member since 2011.
