Sacred Heart Women’s Rugby Loses Opener to Molloy College

On Saturday September 3rd, Sacred Heart Women’s Rugby hosted Molloy College Women’s Rugby in their home opener. Molloy came to play and left with a 45-22 win.
Molloy took a 12-0 lead before Sacred Heart Margaret Woods scored the first try for the Pioneers at the 29th minute. Molloy added a third try prior to halftime to give the Lions a 19-5 lead at intermission.
The second half began with Molloy adding another try before Sacred Heart answered back with two tries from Allie Rinaldi and Charlotte Tallman, the later at the 55th minute. That narrowed the match to 24-17 in Molloy’s favor.
Molloy then took control of the match scoring three consecutive tries before Sacred Heart added another before the match ended with a 45-22 Molly victory.
Sacred Heart will regroup and travel to play Castleton on September 10 at 3:00 PM.
Molloy will host its first-ever NCAA varsity rugby match this Saturday when the Lions host the University of New England at Cedar Creek Park in Seaford at 12 p.m.
