Old Glory Re-Signs Max Lum

Old Glory DC re-signed Max Lum for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old hooker/loosehead prop is 6’0″ and 245 lbs.

Max played 118 minutes in 4 matches, starting once, for Old Glory during the Covid-19 shortened 2020 season.

During the 2019 MLR season, Max played 261 minutes in 14 matches with the Glendale Raptors. He carried the ball 29 times for 142 meters and made 28 tackles.

Max is from Advance, North Carolina, and attended Forsyth Country Day School, a coeducational private day school located in Lewisville, North Carolina. He played rugby, a linebacker in football, and threw the discus and shot put on the track and field team. He also played with the Triad Bulldogs of the Carolina Youth Rugby League.

He then attended Wheeling Jesuit University, majoring in Business and playing in the D1A Rugby East Conference where was a RugbyMag.com All-Freshman selection. In 2013 he played with the USA Rugby Under-20s, which the team defeating the Las Vegas Blackjacks and a Belmont Shore XVs side.

During Spring 2014, he moved to Christchurch, New Zealand, and played with Southbridge Rugby Club. One of his special rugby moments was starting for the team alongside All Blacks Dan Carter in the team’s win over North Canterbury. He also played on Ellesmere Under-21s Colts representative team and was a Southbridge RFC Player of the Year Nominee.

He played for Canterbury Country Seniors in 2014 and from 2016 to 2017 as a starter. He also was part of the Canterbury B squad in 2016. He returned to Wheeling Jesuit for the Fall 2015 season and played for Ellesmere Seniors from 2015 to 2017. In 2017 he was named Canterbury Country Player of the Year.

In 2018 he moved to Colorado and played with the Raptors during the Fall exhibition season and continued with the team in the 2019 MLR season.
