USA Rugby’s Head Coach JD Stephenson will lead a team of 12 athletes to the 2019 U.S. Pan American Games Men’s Sevens team. The Games will take place in Lima, Peru from July 26 to August 11. The PanAm Games come after the USA men qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, reached a No. 2 World Ranking and won seven tournament medals. USA Rugby announced Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri as the location for the 2019 Club 7s National Championship on August 10-11. Qualifying tournaments will begin June 29th in San Francisco and Philadelphia. The Kansas City Blues, who twice were National Runners-Up in this competition, supported the bid along with Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City. Day 2 at the Biarritz Sevens saw the USA beating Russia 27-12 in the Cup Quarterfinals and then Spain 24-7 in the Semifinals to advance to the Cup Finals against New Zealand, who defeated Canada 21-12. The USA Women’s Eagles Sevens qualified for the 2020 Olympics in Toyko after beating 11th ranked China 36-5 in their opening Pool C match at the HSBC Women’s Sevens Series in Biarritz. USA Rugby Release As part of its commitment to deliver a robust and inclusive talent identification and verification system, USA Rugby will present an annual Women’s National Development Invitational Tournament (NDIT) in sevens featuring academy and invitational sides as well as the Collegiate All-Americans (WCAA).
