Spain Wins World Rugby 7s Repechage at Monaco & Qualifies for Rio Olympics
In dramatic fashion, Spain won the World Rugby Sevens Repechage at the Monaco Sevens 22-19 over Samoa with no time on the clock. With that, Spain gained the twelfth and final spot in the Rio Olympics Men’s Rugby Sevens competition.
Spain joins Fiji, South Africa, New Zealand, Great Britain, Argentina, USA, France, Kenya, Japan, Australia and hosts Brazil at the Games.
Teams that participated in the Monaco Sevens, included Zimbabwe, Tonga, Ireland, Samoa, Canada, Germany, Uruguay, Sri Lanka, Russia, Chile, Morocco, Tunisia, Hong Kong, Spain, Mexico and South Korea.
