Bloodfest Rugby 7s This Weekend

Bloodfest is right around the corner, and the Austin Huns Rugby Club is very excited to be hosting the largest rugby 7’s tournament in the Southwest once again! With over 60 teams signed up as of today, it will surely be a great, fun-filled day of rugby. The tournament will kick off at 9am at Northeast Metro Park, 15500 Sun Light Near Way in Pflugerville.
The reason behind calling the tournament Bloodfest, is to help raise awareness for the Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas. Their cause is one that The Austin Huns have gotten behind wholeheartedly, and we want to see them continue for many years to come. This tournament is just one way we give back to them for their hard work, and dedication.
“The Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. Founded in 1951 as the Travis County Medical Society Blood Bank, it initially provided whole blood to four Austin Hospitals and a couple of rural clinics. Its mission is to safeguard the community’s gifts of blood and tissue with uncompromising quality and excellence in customer service.
The Blood and Tissue Center today is the exclusive provider and guardian of the community blood supply for more than 37 medical facilities in a ten-county service area of Central Texas.”
After the tournament we will be starting our evening at B.D Riley’s Pub at 6pm, and then we are coordinating a USA v Italy watch party at the Market & Tap Room starting at 8pm in Austin, TX. We want to invite all participating teams, and fans to help us cheer on the USA Eagles to victory!
