Rugby Football Club Los Angeles signed Canadian international XVs and Sevens Olympian Andrew Coe for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old (28 in April) wing/fullback is 6’2″ and 205 lbs.
Andrew played 1022 minutes in 15 starts and scored 7 tries for Rugby New York in 2023. He then played for Canada twice against Tonga during the Summer internationals and in November against Spain and Brazil in Vila International Rugby Cup in Villajoysa, Spain. He also played for the UBCOB Ravens in the British Columbia Premier League.
Andrew played 1169 minutes in 17 matches, starting 15, and scored 6 tries. He also was selected for Rugby Canada’s National XVs November tour where he started against the Netherlands in a win. Next is Namibia on Saturday. He also played a couple of matches for UBCOB in the British Columbia Premier League.
Andrew was born in Victoria, British, Columbia, and lives in Markham, Ontario, Canada. He graduated from Bill Crothers Secondary School in 2014 and from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree after attending from 2014-2018. He played rugby with the Thunderbirds while there, with the team winning the Canadian University Men’s Championship.
Andrew was the Canadian U18 and U20s captain and helped the U20s win silver at the World Rugby Trophy competition in Lisbon. He made his senior National Team debut against Georgia on June 10, 2017, and played at the 2019 Rugby World Cup. During the RWC, he scored Canada’s lone try against Italy. He was selected for the November 2022 tour, as well as for international matches in 2023, and has 18 caps.
Andrew also played for the Canadian Sevens team at the 2018 Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast and the 2018 Rugby World Cup Sevens in San Francisco that year. He joined the Canadian Sevens team in 2017, however, a broken arm during a test against Fiji, prevented him from making his debut at the Las Vegas Sevens in 2018.
During the HSBC World Sevens Series in 2018-2019, he played in 25 matches and scored 6 tries. He helped Canada win the 2019 Rugby Americas North Sevens, which secured a spot in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Games were held in 2021 where the team advanced to the quarterfinals and finished in eighth place.
During the shortened 2019-20 HSBC Sevens Series, he played in 13 matches and scored 4 tries. He returned to the Canada Sevens Team for the Dubai Sevens two series in 2021.
