Clarks Stadium hosted a vibrant crowd of 3,476 fans who witnessed a relentlessly active contest from opening whistle to end. The game began with early scoring, as Los Leones fly half Gonzalo López executed an accurate cross-kick for Alberto Carmona to score a mere three minutes into the match, followed by a challenging conversion from López.
Canada’s response came swiftly. After an initial raid saw the ball held up, a quick tap allowed Mason Flesch to power over for the North Americans, with Peter Nelson’s conversion leveling the score at 7-7 within 10 minutes.
The first half established a pattern of immediate reply. Second-rower Antonio Ray Suárez scored from a maul for Spain, converted by López to regain a seven-point lead.
