The Atlantic Privateers will face Montreal 1862 RFC in a two-game elite rugby series this fall in Montreal and Halifax as both clubs seek to provide more competitive rugby for players in the regions.

The first game is at Molson Stadium in Montreal on October 19 with a 230 pm kickoff, and the teams will travel to Halifax for a rematch on Saturday, October 26, with other exciting rugby slated for both venues on the same days to provide fans in both regions with a great rugby day.

Privateers founder Dr. John Gillis said “Rugby in Canada needs an elite senior men’s competition, and we are delighted that Montreal 1862 has stood up and will give us two challenging matches for our players and supporters to enjoy”

The Privateers are coming off a spring season which they capped by winning the Coast To Coast Cup with a thrilling 34-17 win over Toronto Arrows Academy, while Montreal 1862 won their first-ever match 33-14 against perennial American Rugby Premiership powerhouse New York Old Blue.

Montreal 1862 co-founder and GM Nic Clapinson said “This is an important initiative for the players to display what they can do and continue to grow and develop as athletes. The opportunity to play a series versus the defending Coast to Coast Cup Champions in our first months of operation is a fantastic way to kick off and share what we are doing with the Montreal rugby community.”

More details on the venues and other matches will be available in the coming weeks
