San Diego Legion signed Faitala Talapusi for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 20-year-old fullback is 5’11” and 185 lbs.
Faitala is from Apia, Samoa and grew up in Hayward, California. He attended James Logan High School from 2013-2017. In 2015 he attended the USA Boys High School All-American Camp and In 2016 he helped Penn Grove win the NorCal Sevens Championship.
In 2018 he attended the USA Men’s Sevens High-Performance Training Camp played with Tiger Rugby in the Hong Kong 10s and made his international Sevens debut as the 13th man in the 2018 Singapore Sevens. In 2018 he also played in the Oktoberfest Sevens in Germany. In 2019 he went on the USA Flacons Sevens South American Tour, gained Residency with the USA Sevens, and then played in the 2020 Coral Coast Sevens in Fiji with the Falcons.
Faitala has also played club rugby with the Life West Gladiators and joins the San Diego Legion in 2020 when it does not conflict with his sevens commitment.
