San Diego Legion has apparently re-signed Josh Furno for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 30-year-old lock is 6’7″ and 270 lbs.
Josh joined the Legion toward the end of the 2019 MLR season. He played 240 minutes in 3 matches and scored one try. He carried 21 times for 85 meters and made 32 tackles. Following the season, Josh played with Wellington in the Mitre 10 Cup.
Josh was born in Melbourne, Australia and grew up in Benevento, Italy. He played rugby for F.I.R. Academy in 2008-2009 in the Italian Series A league. He then played for Viadana in 2009-10 and Aironi in 2010-11, before moving to France to play for Narbonne in 2012-13 and Biarritz in 2013-14. He then moved to the United Kingdom and played for the English Premiership club, Newcastle Falcons from 2014-16.
During the 2016-17 season, he played for PRO14 Rugby’s Zebre and in 2017 moved to New Zealand to join Otago. In 2018 it was on to Australia with Western Force and in 2019 with the San Diego Legion.
Josh has played with Italy A and for Italy where he made his test debut on August 20, 2011, against Scotland. The last of his 37 tests was against Wales on February 7, 2017. He played in the 2015 Rugby World Cup in four matches and appeared in 14 Six Nations matches.
