San Diego Legion Tai Tuisamoa 2020 Profile

San Diego Legion has turned to OMBAC player-coach Tai Tuisamoa for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 39-year-old lock is 6’4″ and 275 lbs.

Tai is from Apia, Samoa. He trained with the Legion in previous seasons and played in preseason matches in 2020. Although the team has not announced recent additions, the former Eagle should add depth for the team.

Tai has played with the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) since 2010. He became the head coach in 2018 and has continued his exemplary playing rugby career. Tai played with the USA Selects in the 2013 American Rugby Championship, and made his debut with the Senior National Team against Russia on November 23, 2013. The last of his six caps was against Tonga on November 15, 2014.

During the 2014-15 season, he played with the London Scottish in the Greene King IPA Championship, making 12 appearances. In 2015-2016 he played with Aurillac in the French Pro D2 league, and in 2016 played with the San Diego Breakers.

Tai has also played with the Classic Eagles at the World Rugby Classic in Bermuda. In 2017 he was the MVP and received the Dean Bottemly Award.
