Rugby United New York Re-Signs Kirkland Hamilton

Rugby United New York re-signed Kirkland Hamilton for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 30-year-old tighthead prop is 6’1″ and 255 lbs.

Kirk played 87 minutes in three matches for RUNY during the 2019 MLR season. He carried 7 times for 18 meters and made 13 tackles. He also played for NYAC during the Spring and during the Fall American Rugby Premiership season.

Kirkland attended Burlington County Regional High School and was known for playing football. Upon graduation, he attended Rutgers University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Philosophy. He was introduced to rugby at Rutgers and excelled in the front row and was a difficult runner to tackle as he often ran a crash into the opposition.

After graduation, he joined the New York Athletic Club and was part of their 2015 National Championship run. He also played on the USA Islanders, a team consisting of the top US Polynesian rugby talent, in Bermuda against the Saracens.

In 2018 Rugby United New York enjoyed an undefeated exhibition season and in the Fall won their two preseason matches. Kirk was part of the squad and in 2019 and will hope to see more action in 2020.

Congratulations are in order for his marriage to Brielle Leigh Hamilton in May.
