Old Glory DC Signs Sean Hartig

Old Glory DC signed Sean Hartig for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old scrumhalf is 5’7″ and 165 lbs.

Sean is from Crofton, Maryland and attended DeMatha Catholic High School. He played baseball through his Sophomore year and then turned to rugby with the Maryland All-Star High School Team in 2011. Following his graduation in 2012, he attended Mount St. Mary’s University from 2012-2016. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.

While playing rugby for the Mounts, the team advanced to the NSCRO Final 4 in 2014 and finished in fourth place. In 2015 the team finished in second-place and in 2016 won the NSCRO National Championship. Sean was an NSCRO First Team selection in 2015 and in 2016. He also spent time in New Zealand during Summer 2014 and played with Katikati Rugby Club.

Sean was a Potomac Rugby Union MVP during the Fal 2015-2016 season and a Mid-Atlantic MVP in Spring 2015.

Sean has played with Rocky Gorge Rugby Club since 2016 and with the Capital Selects since 2017. With the Selects, he played against USA Rugby South in 2017 and in 2019, against NOLA Gold in 2018 and the Houston SaberCats in 2019. Sean also played in all four 2019 exhibition season matches with Old Glory DC in May and June.

Sean joins Old Glory DC for its inaugural season in Major League Rugby in 2020. He is excited about the team and looks forward to contributing.
