Rugby ATL Signs Stefan Willemse

Rugby ATL signed Stefan Willemse for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old lock/flanker is 6’4″ and 251 lbs.

Stefan is from South Africa and attended Paarl Gimnasium. He also attended Nelson Mandela University and played with the NMMU Madibaz advancing to the Varsity Cup Semifinals in 2013 and in 2014.

In 2011 he played with the Blue Bulls U19s in the Provincial Competition advancing to the final. In 2012 he played with the Sharks U21s in the Provincial Competition and in 2013 with Eastern Province U21s.

Stefan played senior rugby with the Eastern Province Kings in the Vodacom Cup in 2013 and 2014 and helped the team in the Currie Cup First Division win promotion to the Premier Division in 2014.

He played with the Southern Kings in 2016-2017, Western Province in 2016, the Eastern Province Kings in 2017, and with the Pumas from 2017-2019.

Stefan joins Rugby ATL for 2020 and his leadership will be invaluable during their inaugural season in MLR.
