Rugby United New York Re-Signs Brian McKellar

Rugby United New York signed Brian McKellar for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old prop is 6’2″ and 250 lbs.

Brian is from West Chester, Pennsylvania and attended West Chester East High School. He then attended Penn State University, earning Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Bioengineering and Biomechanical Engineering.

Brian achieved both academic and rugby honors at Penn State. Academically, he was a Schreyer Honors Scholar, the recipient of a PSU Discovery Grant, and received the NASA Freshman Undergraduate Research Program Grant. Athletically, he played rugby for Penn State and twice was named to the D1A Rugby East All-Conference First Team. He also was selected as a USA Rugby Men’s Collegiate All-American in 2017.

After graduating from Penn State, Brian played rugby for New York Athletic Club and also played for Rugby United New York during their 2018 exhibition season. His performance in the exhibition season was rewarded with a contract with the team for 2019.

During the 2019 MLR season, Brian honed his skills at practice with RUNY and played with New York Athletic Club during the American Rugby Premiership.
