In the third match of the Cara Cup, the New England Free Jacks lost to Ulster A 43-15 on Sunday, March 24 at Union Point Sports Complex in Weymouth, MA.
In the first match, the Connacht Eagles defeated the New England Free Jacks 38-7. The second had the Connacht Eagles beating the Ulster Ravens 44-21.
Ulster will return to Ireland and the Free Jacks will wait to face Munster A on April 6 at the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, MA.
Match Recap
Ulster struck first in the 10th minute with a try from hooker Zack McCall, who was named Man of the Match bu Ulster. The Free Jacks slotted a penalty by Tadhg Leader to cut the lead to 5-3. Ulster answered back with a try from Ben Power, which was converted by Bruce Houston. The Free Jacks Pago Haini then crossed the line, with Leader converting to narrow the lead to 12-10. Just prior to the break, Stewart Moore added a try to push the lead to 17-10 at the break.
Ulster added a try by scrum-half Graham Curtis and another conversion by Houston to lead 24-10. Then Erik Tompson scored to cut the lead to 24-15.
Ulster proved to have the stronger bench with ties by Jack Owens, Charlie Clarke, and Iwan Hughes, with Houston adding two more conversions for a final score of 43-15.
