Hawkes Bay Global Rugby Academy USA Tour
Hawkes Bay Rugby Union Press Release April 26, 2016
Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union (New Zealand) visiting the USA
Hawke’s Bay Rugby Union is currently in the USA to establish relationships with rugby players, coaches, teams, and schools and to promote the Hawke’s Bay Global Rugby Academy (www.rugbyacademy.nz).
Their global academy is open to men’s and women’s international rugby players aged thirteen and up and coaches. It is designed for people seeking world-class rugby training from some of the best players and coaches in the country and extraordinary experiences in New Zealand. This program is open to all, regardless of ability and level of playing. There are options for players to join local teams while training with the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Global Academy.
Hawke’s Bay Rugby’s CEO Mike Bishop, Manager Jason Shoemark, and Magpies Assistant Coach Danny Lee will be visiting several cities throughout the USA, including San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, New York, and Boston. Their academy presentations and rugby clinics will also take place in suburbs of these regions, offering the opportunity for more teams to meet with them to discuss the opportunity of training with their academy.
The region of Hawke’s Bay has a deep rugby history, dating back to 1875. Extremely successful rugby players have developed from Hawke’s Bay Rugby, with several, including Lee, going on to become All Blacks (Israel Dagg, Brodie Retallick, and Zac Guildford, to name a few).
Their USA itinerary, organized by Joe Payton, Hawke’s Bay Rugby’s Player Development Manager and Jennie Reid, Positively Rugby CEO, includes presentations about their academy, rugby clinics, and meetings with top clubs and coaches in the country. They will also present at two chapters of The Rugby Business Network (www.therugbybusinessnetwork.com) in Chicago and Boston. Business executives with a background in rugby attend these events around the world to get their companies involved in their rugby community and meet like-minded individuals. These two events will also welcome rugby players, parents, and coaches to learn about rugby and study abroad opportunities with the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Global Academy.
Global collaboration is a valuable attribute of rugby success and immersion in the rugby culture in New Zealand creates knowledge, memories, and relationships to cherish forever. Hawke’s Bay Rugby Global Academy’s expert staff will customize a New Zealand rugby, education, and cultural experience to suit needs and availability of each individual to create a tailor-made training and development plan.
