“PRO Rugby is pleased to announce the appointment of Matt Hawkins as Assistant Coach for the San Diego team in PRO Rugby’s 2016 inaugural season. Matt’s rugby career in the US started with playing stints for OMBAC and the SoCal Griffins before representing the USA at both 15s and 7s, where he was an exceptional player and captain for several years. He has been Head Coach for both the USA 7s Men’s National team and San Diego State University. Hawkins has also been a member of the USA Rugby Board and most recently has dedicated considerable time to youth and high school programs in the San Diego area.”

Earlier PRO Rugby named Ray Egan as the Head Coach of the San Diego team. Matt has spent considerable time also coaching clinics with ATAVUS. They operate the Olympic Development Academies in both Seattle and in San Diego. They are heavily involved in Youth Rugby through working with high performance athletes.

Steve Lewis continues to add leading USA rugby coaches to PRO  Rugby.
