PRO Rugby Adds Obetz, Ohio as 4th Team

Doug Coil

Earlier today PRO Rugby announced that Obetz, Ohio would join San Francisco, Sacramento and San Diego as the fourth team. Obetz is on the outskirts of Columbus and the team will be using the Columbus Crew facility.

A 5th team will be announced shortly. Practice should begin within a month, so expect a flurry of PRO Rugby announcements about coaches and players.

In this area, Tiger Rugby Academy is one of USA Rugby’s Olympic Development Academies. They have been involved with PRO Rugby in operating the first two combines and will be involved in two more in Dallas, Texas and in Greensboro, North Carolina.

If these combines are of interest, please register for an opportunity to showcase your talent in front of coaches who are scouting for the new Pro Rugby League, USA 15’s and 7’s, and USA Under 20 programs. Both events will be taking place on February 14th. For more information, please contact

PRO Rugby Release

“We are happy to announce Ohio as our fourth team for PRO Rugby’s upcoming inaugural season. Ohio will play its matches in the city of Obetz. We thank the City of Obetz for their help in making a team in Ohio possible. We are excited about building the stadium experience and hopefully this model will allow for expansion in other areas of the country that do not have existing venues that fit the rugby match criteria.”
