More Info On The Eagles-Wallabies Match

The USA Rugby Eagles, currently ranked 16th in the world,  play the Australia Wallabies, ranked 3rd,  September 5th at 6:30pm CT. This is the first match v Australia in almost 40 years.

The Eagles finished 5th in the recent Pacific Nations Cup and have three more test matches prior to leaving for the Rugby World Cup. On August 22nd they play Canada in Ottawa (4pm ET), the Harlequins August 30th at PPL Park, Chester, PA (3pm ET, Streamed ESPN3) and finally, Australia in Chicago September 5th.

The last time that the Eagles played at Soldier Field they had a sell out, as 61,500 fans set a new USA Rugby home attendance record v the New Zealand All Blacks. Another excellent crowd is expected for this event.

Both pre and post matches events are also planned. USA Rugby will have a press conference earlier in that week promoting this match and is also expected to release the Eagles Rugby World cup Squad.

On the Wallabies Web page, they indicate that there will be two high end hospitality events planned, “The Windy City Experience”

Friday 4 September

“Attend the Official Qantas Wallabies v USA Eagles Test Dinner and mix with senior Australian and USA Rugby leaders, Government officials, current and former players and other senior corporate executives.

Saturday 5 September

Attend the pre-match Tailgate Australian Barbeque party with other Australian and USA supporters to enjoy Australian produce and beverages.”

In speaking with USA Rugby, a Sunday session may be held for rugby coaches. Expect a USA Rugby release soon.
