Austin Gilgronis Kurt Morath 2020 Profile

The Austin Gilgronis have added Kurt Morath for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The team has not released his addition at this time, but it was reported in the broadcast of the Gilgronis match against the Toronto Arrows that he was waiting for a visa before joining the team.

Kurt played with the Utah Warriors in 2018.  The 35-year-old flyhalf is 5’11” and 200 lbs.

Kurt was born in North Shore City, New Zealand and attended the Hamilton Boys’ College. He played club rugby for Clonakilty RFC, provincial rugby for Auckland in 2006 and for Taranaki from 2006-2008. His Senior rugby career includes playing for Kubota Spears in 2013-2014, Biarritz in 2014-2015, the San Diego Breakers in 2016, the Utah Warriors in 2018, and the Doncaster Knights in 2018-2019.

Tonga National Team

Kurt is the all-time leading points scorer for the Tonga National Team. He made his debut for Tonga against Portugal on 28, November 2007 and last played in the 2019 Rugby World Cup against England on 22, September. Kurt has 37 caps and has 340 points for the team. He also played in the Rugby World Cup in 2011, 2015, and 2019.
