It appears that Chris Turori is returning to the San Diego Legion for a third Major League Rugby season. The 26-year old flanker is 6’4″ and 225 lbs.
Chris Turori played in 2020 preseason matches in 2020 and in 2019 played 241 minutes in four matches. He carried 12 times for 59 minutes and made 45 tackles. He also played with OMBAC during the Pacific Rugby Premiership.
With the regular season ready to start this weekend, Chris is expected to contribute to the team in 2020.
Chris attended Valley Christian Academy and then went to Palomar College from 2012-2014, studying Computer Science and Engineering. From 2015-2017 he attended San Diego Mesa College, earning an AA Degree in Applied Mathematics. Chris then continued his education in 2017 at Cal State University San Marcos in Computer Science.
Chris played soccer as a youth and turned to rugby along with his two brothers and his sister, encouraged by their father who grew up in New Zealand.
He has played for the USA Rugby Men’s Collegiate All-Americans in 2014 against Cambridge and against the Ontario Blues. He also is a capped USA Men’s Eagles Sevens player.
Chris has represented the SoCal Griffins and has played club rugby 7s and 15s with Old Mission Beach Athletic Club. He has played in the Pacific Rugby Premiership and in the California Cup. He also has represented the club at the USA Rugby Club National Sevens Championships.
Chris also is a certified USA Rugby level 200 coach. He is a leader on the field and also can help develop players for the Legion Academy.
