San Diego Legion Signs William Wardlaw

San Diego Legion signed William Wardlaw for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 29-year-old center is 5’11” and 198 lbs.

William is from Cupar, Fife, Scotland and attended Bell Baxter High School and Aberdeen Grammar where he played rugby for the first XV. He then went to the University of Aberdeen and pursued a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ecology and played with the university rugby team.

He has played rugby with the Howe of Fife, West Harbour in the Sydney Shute Shield in 2015-2016, the Scone Brumbies, and Boroughmuir in the Scottish Premiership.

Some of his best memories was winning the Dubai International Sevens Open Division and Barbados Sevens with the Projecx Waterboys in 2018 as the co-captain. He also played with the Waterboys in Dubai in 2017 and in 2019. Another favorite was defeating the Glasgow Hawks when he played with the Howe of Fife when the Hawks were three leagues above them.

During 2019, William played with Belmont Shore in the USA Club Sevens Nationals with the Gold side and at the Rugbytown 7s with the Southern California Rugby Union. He recently played for the San Diego Legion in a preseason match against OMBAC and then switched to Belmont Shore against the Legion.
