Old Glory DC signed Tyler Myles for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old flyhalf is 5’11” and 180 lbs.
Tyler is from Frederick, Maryland and attended Catoctin High School from 2008-2012. He was part of the Student Government, Student Council and the wrestling team from 2009-2012. He also played rugby with the West Carroll Marauders RFC from 2008-2012 and was captain the final two years.
Tyler then enrolled at Mount St. Mary’s University from 2012-2017 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Management. He played rugby while there and was the co-captain of the team from 2013-2016 and the captain in 2017. The team has numerous accomplishments during that time. In 2014 the team finished in fourth place in the NSCRO Championship. In 2015 they finished second and in 2016 won the National Championship in both 15s and in 7s. The team also won the Philadelphia Division at the Collegiate Rugby Championship in 2016.
Since his graduation, he has continued his association with Mount St. Mary’s. He has been an Assistant Rugby Coach since 2016 and is the head coach of the rugby 7s team for 2020.
Tyler went to Sydney, Australia and played with Northern Suburbs in 2015 and in 2017 was in Aotearoa, New Zealand for two months and played with Ngongotaha RFC. Upon returning, he played club rugby with Baltimore-Chesapeake in 2017-2018 and was the Division 1 Club’s MVP. In the 2018-2019 season, he played with the Glendale Raptors Academy and also with the Glendale Merlins in Spring 2019. During Fall 2019 it was back to Maryland to play with Rocky Gorge.
Tyler made his debut with Old Glory DC during their 2019 exhibition season. he played against the USA Rugby South Panthers on June 1 and now joins Old Glory for their inaugural MLR season in 2020.
