Old Glory DC signed Renata Roberts-TeNana for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old utility back has played fullback, flyhalf, and wing. He is 6’2″ and 200 lbs.

Renata is from Ruatoria, New Zealand and is the son of Karl TeNana, a former New Zealand Rugby Sevens stat. Renata attended Auckland Grammar School from 2009-2013 and a penalty goal in the Development final of the 2012 New Zealand Secondary Schools National Rugby League Tournament gave Auckland Grammar the championship over Papakura. He also played for his local club, Ruatoria City, as well as Northcote Birkenhead Rugby Club during the 2012-2013 season.

Renata is an accomplished rugby sevens player and has played for North Harbour during the New Zealand National Rugby Sevens Tournament. In 2017 he helped Spreranza with the Dubai International Sevens Tournament.

Renata has played with OB Marist and in 2017 played with the Northland Development Team. In 2018 and in 2019 he played for Northland in the Mitre 10 Cup.

On joining Old Glory, Renata said, “I’m super excited for an opportunity to meet new people and add what I can to the culture already in place at Old Glory.  Rugby is a great tool to make life-long friendships, so I’m chomping at the bit to use it as a vehicle to get to know the people, culture, and community within the Washington area.”
