Austin Elite Rugby re-signed Uruguay international Rodrigo Silva for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 27-year-old fullback/flyhalf is 6’0″, and 190 lbs.
During 2019 he played 854 minutes in 12 matches and scored 2 tries. He carried 83 times for 618 meters, had 3 linebreaks, 7 tackle breaks, 5 offloads, kicked 32 times for 915 meters, and made 102 tackles.
Following the season, Rodrigo played with the Uruguay National Team at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Rodrigo is from Montevideo, Uruguay and played club rugby for Carrasco Polo Club at the Campeonato Uruguayo de Rugby.
He made his debut for the Uruguay National Team on November 11, 2012, against Portugal. He has played in 61 matches, starting 55 of them, including playing in all four 2015 Rugby World Cup and all four 2019 Rugby World Cup ones. Six of the matches were against the USA Selects, Argentina XV (3 times), and against Emerging Italy (twice). Rodrigo’s last match was against Wales on October 13, 2019.
Rodrigo has also played scrumhalf in addition to playing fullback. His leadership and international experience has been an asset to the team.
