Rugby United New York Re-Signs James Denise

Rugby United New York re-signed James Denise for the 2020 Major league Rugby season. The 32-year-old flanker is 6’2″ and 235 lbs.

James was a key contributor for RUNY in 2019. He played 524 minutes in 9 matches and scored 7 tries, which was third on the team. He also made 98 tackles. The team missed him for several weeks due to injuries or his statistics would have been even more impressive.

During Fall 2019 James played for NYAC in the American Rugby Premiership and is ready to contribute to Rugby United New York in 2020.

James is a long-time player with New York Athletic Club, joining the club in 2008 and has been the team captain. He helped the team win the USA Rugby Division 1 National Championships in 2008, 2010, 2012 and in 2015.

Denise also spent time playing with Morris RFC and in Australia playing for the Randwick Rugby Club, as well as GPS Rugby Club. Denise also played for the US national team’s developmental side, the USA Hawks and earned invitations to National Team high-performance camps.

He played for RUNY in the 2018 exhibition season and joins the team for 2019. He is among many players, who balance playing professional rugby while working fulltime. James is employed as a Sales representative.
