The Toronto Arrows re-signed Kolby Francis for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 22-year-old No 8 is 6’5″, 260 lbs. and is from Brantford, Ontario.
Kolby played 578 minutes in 14 matches with the Arrows. He scored 5 tries, carried 57 times for 282 meters, made 2 offloads and 68 tackles.
Kolby attended St. John’s College and then the University of Guelph from 2015-2019, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in the Summer. He attended Guelph while playing for the Arrows. He played with the Guelph Gryphons and in 2017 was named to the Canadian University Men’s All-Stars, who played against the USA Collegiate All-Stars.
Kolby has progressed through the Rugby Ontario age-grade system playing for the Junior Blues Under-18s, the Under-19s, and debuted for the Ontario Blues in the Canadian Rugby Championship in 2017 against the Atlantic Rock. He also played for the Blues in 2018.
During the Summer, Kolby plays for the Brantford Harlequins. In 2018, the team advanced to the McCormick Cup Final. In 2019 the team won the McCormick Cup for the third time in four years.
In 2018 Kolby played professionally for the Arrows, playing in all their exhibition matches. He debuted in January against the Houston SaberCats and was a key contributor during the 2019 season and expects to be again in 2020.
