Utah Warriors signed Pat Vatemo Ravouvou as a utility back for 2019 and 2020. The 29-year-old is 5’10” and 187 lbs.
Pat did not play with the team during the 2019 season. He did play in the 2019 Rugbytown 7s with Tiger Rugby and his attacking spirit should blend in with the Warriors attack at wing or at fullback in 2020.
Vatemo is from Nadi, Fiji and lives in Saunaka and attended Ratu Navula College. He is best known for playing rugby sevens for the Fiji Sevens team, playing in 38 tournaments and scoring 912 points, which ranks 28th on the All-Time Men’s list. He last played in the Cape Town Sevens during the 2018-2019 season.
Vatemo is also a 2016 Gold Medalist with Team Fiji at the Olympics in Rio, as Fiji won its first Olympic medal. This led to an appearance for the Fiji National 15s team against the Barbarians in Belfast on November 11 and a contract with the Western Sydney Rams in the National Rugby Championship in 2016 where he played fullback and flyhalf.
In 2018 Vatemo was a member of Fiji’s Rugby World Cup Sevens team and he also played in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He now joins the Utah Warriors for 2019 and 2020 where he is expected to make an impact in the backline.
