Utah Warriors Re-Signs Gannon Moore

The Utah Warriors re-signed Gannon Moore for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 28-year-old center/wing is 6’2″, and 220 lbs.

Gannon played 741 minutes in 10 matches for the Warriors in 2019. He scored 5 tries, made 82 carries for 862 meters, had 9 line breaks and 7 tackle breaks, and made 90 tackles.

Gannon also played for the USA National Men’s XVs against Canada on July 27 at Infinity Park at Glendale.

He is from Sioux Falls, South Dakota and attended Lincoln High School. He played football and graduated in 2009. While at Lincoln, he played rugby since age 15 for Sioux Falls and also for Nebraska Selects at the Rocky Mountain Challenge in 2006 and 2007. Both he and his brother were invited to a High School All-American Camp when he was 15 but elected not to attend.

Upon graduation, he attended Southwest Minnesota State University from 2009-2012 majoring in Exercise Science. He attended a regional NFL combine in Chicago and discussed a possible contract with the Houston Texans, but it did not come to fruition.

He then briefly returned to Sioux Falls, before playing for the Kansas City Blues Collegiate side at the Denver 7s. The team advanced to the tournament final and beat the Air Force Academy. In 2014 he moved to Kansas City and played for the KC Blues, and helped the team to a 3rd place finish at the USA Rugby Club 7s in 2014. The team won the Frontier 7s in 2015 and participated at the Rugbytown 7s in 2015.

In 2016 Gannon played for the Denver Stampede, for North Harbour in the Mitre 10 Cup and for Silverdale RFC since 2016.

In 2018 Gannon, who had been on the USA Rugby National Team radar, played for the USA Selects in the Americas Pacific Challenge. He then played for the Eagles against the Maori All-Blacks on November 3, 2018, at center and then against Samoa at wing and Romania the following two weeks.

Gannon was selected for the 2019 Americas Rugby Championship Squad and was part of the extended 2019 Rugby World Cup squad. The last of his four tests was against Canada in July 2019.
