The Toronto Arrows signed Jack McRogers for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 21-year-old hooker is 5’10” and 233 lbs.
Jack made two appearances for the Arrows in 2019, playing 21 minutes. He made 7 tackles with 2 dominant ones, and had a tackle completion rate of 100 percent. Jack was also an Ontario University Athletics First Team All-Star.
Jack is from Newmarket, Ontario. He began playing rugby in 8th grade when he lived in New Zealand with his family for a year. He returned to Ontario and attended Newmarket High School from 2012-2016. He was a running back in football and a player-coach in rugby when the school began a rugby team in 11th grade.
Jack played club rugby with the Aurora Barbarians as a U14, U16, U19, and Senior team. He captained the Toronto Rugby Reds to a championship at the New York Sevens in 2015.
Jack has attended McMaster University since 2016 and is projected to obtain his Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science in 2021. He played with the team in the 2017 Canadian Universities Championship and was selected for the tournament Dream team.
Jack has also been involved nationally for Canada. He was on the U19s tour to Wales, played for the U20s in 2017 and 2018 in World Rugby Trophy Qualifiers and in 2018 progressed to the Junior World Rugby Trophy competition in Romania.
Jack played professional rugby with the Ontario Arrows in 2018 against Rugby United New York and the New England Free Jacks. He is expected to make his 2019 MLR debut against the Utah Warriors.
