The Seattle Seawolves signed Floris Petrus ‘FP’ Pelser for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old lock is 6’6″ and 260lbs.
Pelser is from Bethlehem, Free State, South Africa and attended Hoërskool Witteberg where he graduated in 2013.
He played with the Northern Free State Griffons U18 side and contributed to their undefeated run during Craven Week. He then moved to Western Province in 2014 to join their U19 side and helped the team to win the age-grade Currie Cup that year. Pelser then joined the Golden Lions academy side and helped the Golden Lions U21’s win back-to-back Currie Cup Championships. He also attended the University of Johannesburg from 2015-2017 while he pursued a degree in Mathematics. While there, he played rugby in the Varsity Cup competition for two seasons.
Pelser competed in senior rugby with the Griquas from 2017-2019 in both the Premier Division of the Currie Cup and the SuperSport Challenge for two years. In 2019 the Griquas won the SuperSport Challenge after 2017 and 2018 final appearances.

“I am extremely excited and truly grateful for the opportunity,” said Pelser. “I am really looking forward to contributing in every way that I can to the team.”
The Seawolves that he has a strong defensive technique in both the breakdown and tackle contests and his height and experience adds another aerialist threat to the Seawolves forward pack.
