The Houston SaberCats signed Boyd Wiggins for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 26-year-old prop is 6’2″ and 270lbs.
Boyd was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and moved as a youth to Auckland, New Zealand where he attended Westlake Boys High School through 2011. He played rugby at Westlake with the team winning the North Harbour 1st XV title.
Boyd then attended the University of Auckland from 2012-2015. In 2013 represented New Zealand at the U20s World Championship in France in 2013.
He played with Marist North Harbour from 2015-2018 in the ITM Cup (Mitre 10 Cup) and since 2018 has played with Northland in the Mitre 10 Cup competition. He also played club rugby with Takapuna and with OB Marist.
Boyd will be a welcome addition for the SaberCats in 2020.
