Rugby ATL signed Sean Coughlan for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The 24-year-old center is 6’2″ and 227 lbs.
Sean is an Irish-American who attended Blackrock College from 2005-2013. His final year with Blackrock, the team won the Senior Cup for the 67th time. While developing his rugby IQ in Ireland, he won the “Inter Pro” with the Leinster Under-20s and also received Irish Club honors.
Sean attended the Institute of Technology, Carlow from 2014-2017, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports and Exercise. He played with Lansdowne in 2017 as a center and wing. He then went to Life University from 2017-2019 where he pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. While at Life, he coached Atlanta Youth Rugby. Life won the D1A National Championship in 2018 beating Cal 60-5. In 2019 while playing for the Life Senior Men’s team, the club won the 2019 Club Divison 1 Championship.
Sean experience in Ireland and in the U.S. as a center and wing will benefit Rugby ATL in 2020 and hopefully, beyond.
