San Diego Legion Re-Signs Siaosi Mahoni for 2020

San Diego Legion re-signed Siaosi Mahoni for a third Major League Rugby season. He is 22-years-old (23 in January prior to the 2020 season), 6″8″ and 295 lbs.

Siaosi Mahoni is from East Palo Alto, California and is of Tongan descent. He went to Woodside High School where he played basketball and football, graduating in 2015. He then went to Sacred Heart College.

Siaosi toured with the USA Rugby Boys High School All-Americans to Argentina in 2013 and to Portugal in 2014 and was a four-time HS All-American. He was also on the Men’s Junior All-Americans that played in the 2014 World Rugby Junior Trophy competition.

He played professionally for the San Diego Breakers in 2016. He played club rugby with the EPA Razorbacks and in 2017 with Life West in the 2017 California Cup. He helped the Gladiators win Northern California, Pacific Northwest, and Western Conference Championship titles. Then it was off to France to join Narbonne in the France ProD2 League.

Siaosi played with the USA Rugby Selects in the Americas Pacific Challenge in 2016 and for the Eagles in the Americas Rugby Championship in 2017. He debuted against Canada on February 18 in Vancouver and played against Chile in Santiago the following week.

Siaosi re-joins the San Diego Legion for 2020. He has played No.8 and lock for the team. In 2019 he appeared in 9 matches, including as a reserve in the Major League Rugby Championship.
