The Toronto Arrows re-signed Andrew Quattrin for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. Andrew will be 23-years-old at the end of August, is 6’0″, 250 lbs and is from Holland Landing, Ontario.
Quattrin has played rugby at Wilfrid Laurier University and was the captain of the team. He played for the team from 2014-2018 and was a four-time OUA Men’s Rugby All-Star and the first rugby player ever to be named OUA MVP. During the 2018 season, he led the team to its first OUA medal, a bronze, scoring two tries for the team in their 17-6 win over the Waterloo Warriors.
He also won other awards at the University. This included being named Team Rookie of the Year for the 2014-15 season, Team MVP for 2016-17 and for 2017-18. For the latter season, he also received the Fred Nichols Community Service Leadership award. He also was named Athlete of the week on three occasions.
Students attend universities to prepare for careers. While at Wilfrid Laurier, he majored in geography and environmental studies and graduatied in April, 2019.
Andrew progressed through Canada age-grade rugby and played for the Canada Under-20s. He played for the Aurora Barbarians, the Ontario Blues, and for the Arrows during their 2018 exhibition season. That continued in Fall 2018 and he his front row scrummaging skills and his loose play were an asset during the 2019 Major League Rugby season where he played in 15 matches.
His performance during the 2019 MLR season earned him a contract for 2020 and a spot on the Senior Men’s National Team for Canada for the Pacific Nations Cup. He earned two caps, playing against the USA and Fiji.
