USA Rugby in final stage of Chief Executive Officer search, elect Acting CEO
National Governing Body names CFO Jim Snyder as Acting CEO while remaining applicants are considered by search committee

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – USA Rugby, the national governing body for Rugby Union in the United States, today announced the appointment of Jim Snyder as Acting Chief Executive Officer. Snyder will retain his current responsibilities as Chief Financial Officer. Snyder has held the position of CFO for USA Rugby for two years, prior to which he served in a number of Rugby Development roles within the organization, beginning in 2007. The position of CEO was left vacant following the departure of Nigel Melville, effective June 25.

USA Rugby has also announced they are in the final stages of their search for a new CEO, however a date of hire remains tentative at this time.

USA Rugby received over 150 applications for the position of CEO. Perhaps showing the surge of popularity of rugby in the U.S. and the interest of the rest of the world in USA Rugby, the applicant pool featured a mix from the American and worldwide rugby family, as well as executives from other sports with great experience to bring to the organization.

“We have had an extremely strong candidate pool for the position of CEO,” said USA Rugby Chairman of the Board Bob Latham. “The remaining candidates all possess an impressive level of experience and talents. I have no doubt that the future of USA Rugby will be in good hands.”

The search for a new CEO has been supported by Korn Ferry, known as the “preeminent global people and organizational advisory firm.” The Executive Search service assisted in the screening of applicants, ultimately helping the USA Rugby CEO Search Committee determine the best available applicants.

The naming of a new CEO will be announced in due course.
