Men’s Rugby Olympic Repechage in Monaco June 18-19

This weekend, June 18-19, the final men’s qualifier for the Rio 2016 Olympics will be decided at the iconic Stade Louis II in Monaco. The action kicks off at 11:00 local time on June 18th. Two teams from each pool will progress to the quarter-finals where it will be a straight shoot-out for progression into the final, which will be played at 18:30 on day two.
World Rugby has announced the pools and schedule for the Monaco Sevens with HSBC Paris Sevens winners Samoa being the top seed. They are in a tough Pool A that also features Zimbabwe, Tonga and Ireland. Canada, another core team on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, join Germany, Uruguay and Sri Lanka in Pool B. Russia, another series core team, will play Chile, Morocco and Tunisia in Pool C, while fourth seeds Hong Kong take on Spain, Mexico and South Korea in Pool D.
Eleven team are already confirmed for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The winner of the Men’s Repechage Qualifier will join Fiji, South Africa, New Zealand, Great Britain, Argentina, USA, France, Kenya, Japan, Australia and hosts Brazil at the Games.
