Nate Ebner Tries To Make Eagles 7s for Olympics

Nate Ebner want to attempt to earn a spot on the USA Men’s Eagles Sevens team for the Olympics in Rio in August, 2016. His contact that he has signed with the New England Patriots allows him time off to train at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California and then to return to the team upon the conclusion of the rugby in the Olympics.

Nate played rugby at St. Edward High School in Ohio, for the USA U19 All-Americans and at Ohio State University. In 2012 he was drafted by the New England Patriots and has been a member of the team since then.

Nate has continued to have an interest in rugby and most recently was at the USA Sevens in Las Vegas. When he does join the Eagles Sevens in Chula Vista, Mike Friday and staff will ensure that he will he will need to compete for the right to put on an Eagles jersey. Whether Nate earns a spot at one of the four remaining HSBC World Sevens Series stops or one at the Olympics, will be determined whether he can make a difference for the team.

Other teams currently ahead of the USA in the standings are bringing in rugby 15s professionals. The USA can also see if the NFL’s Nate Ebner can also make a difference. Chris Wyles will also return to camp upon the conclusion of the Saracens season.He was part of the team when it qualified for the Olympics last June in Cary, North Carolina.
