The Halloween 7s is being held October 31 and November 1 in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Canadian Maple Leafs join National Development teams from Argentina and the United States (Hawks and Falcons). The remainder of the 8 elite teams consist of select sides from the United States. They include the Denver 7s, Northeast Academy (New York City 7s), Ohio 7s (1823 Sevens) and Rugby Utah.
The Canadian Maple Leafs just returned from the Central Coast Sevens in Australia where they won the Ball Final.
Five members of the Rugby World Cup will be part of the squad. John Moonlight will captain the side, while Conor Trainor, Phil Mack, Nathan Hirayama and Nanyak Dala also return to 7s play.Mike Fuailefau returns to the team after an injury that caused him to miss the Central Coast Sevens. Admir Cejvanovic, Justin Douglas, Sean Duke, Lucas Hammond, Pat Kay and Adam Zaruba maintain their spots in the lineup.
Canada is in Pool A with New York City 7s, Ohio 7s and USA Hawks in the eight-team tournament. This is the final opportunity for elite caliber rugby 7s prior to the 2015-16 HSBC Sevens Series that begins Dec. 4 in Dubai.
