The match between the USA Rugby Eagles and the Harlequins, a Aviva Premiership professional team, will kick off tomorrow, August 30th at PPL Park, Chester, PA. The excitement for this match has been building for some time. The USA Rugby Eagles have this last match as a tune up prior to submitting their 31 man roster for the Rugby World Cup. For the Harlequins, this is their first pre-season match. Under these conditions, the match will be played with an expanded roster, over the traditional 23 man one.

The match is an historic one, as this is the first meeting between the USA Men’s national team and a team from the English rugby, Aviva Premiership Rugby. Is the beginning  of a mutually beneficial partnership? Time will tell.

The Harlequins announced their roster early this morning. In their press announcement they indicate that, “26 players have been announced in the matchday squad with fly-half Nick Evans captaining the side. Seven of the starting pack have come through the Harlequins Academy with a total of ten Academy graduates in the starting 15.

Mat Luamanu and Winston Stanley make their debuts for the Club at number eight and inside centre respectively. Adam Jones, Owen Evans and first year Academy member Archie White, look set to make their Club debuts from the bench. Ollie Lindsay-Hague, Charlie Walker and Marland Yarde make up the back three.”
