Glendale Raptors & Malon Al-Jiboori

The Glendale Raptors signed Malon Al-Jiboori for the 2019 and 2020 Major League Rugby seasons. Malon is 21-years-old, 6’3″, and 240 pounds.

Malon is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and attended Tulsa Union High school where he played football and began to play rugby when he was 16. He declined a football scholarship and attended Lindenwood University from 2015 -2017, where he continued to play rugby.

Malon had a breakout year in 2016. He made his test Eagles Sevens debut at the 2016 Singapore Sevens, in rugby 15s as captain for the USA MJAAs in the World Rugby U20 Trophy competition against Canada.  He then went to Australia during the Summer spending time training with the Super Rugby Brumbies and toured with the USA Collegiate All-Americans to Queensland. In the Fall, he was part of the USA Selects quad for the Americas Pacific Challenge.

In 2017 Malon played for the Eagles Sevens Development team in the Silicon Valley Sevens. In 2018 he played at the Dubai Sevens and then concentrated on rugby 15s making his Eagles XVs debut, scoring a try against Chile on February 15. He then returned to play in the USA Sevens in Las Vegas, as the team won the Cup Final for the first time on U.S. soil.

In 2018 he played one match for the San Diego Legion during the 2018 MLR season and played with the USA Selects in the Americas Pacific Challenge.

In other rugby sevens action, he has played with the Denver Barbarians and with Bulldog Rugby’s in winning the 2018 USA Rugby Club Sevens Nationals.

Glendale Raptors Comments

“I’m really excited about the upcoming season with Glendale and looking forward to just being able to play 15s again,” Al-Jiboori said.
