USA Women’s Falcons Play Aussie Pearls in Las Vegas

USA Women’s Falcons vs. Aussie Pearls

An exhibition series between the USA Women’s Falcons and the Aussie Pearls will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. It is being held in conjunction with the Men’s USA Sevens Series event.

The series came to fruition as both teams had an extended time gap between the last two HSBC Women’s Sevens Series that were held in Dubai and Sydney. The next Series leg will be held in Kitakyushu, Japan on April 21-22. Prior to that Australia is preparing for the Commonwealth Games at the Gold Coast in April.

Australia won both the Dubai and Sydney Sevens and are in first place in the HSBC Women’s Sevens Series. They are also the reigning Olympic Gold medalist from Rio. The USA is currently in fifth place. They made the Cup final in Dubai and then had a disappointing finish at Sydney.

In preparation for the first time that women’s rugby sevens has been included in the Commonwealth Games, Australia has included a full-strength side, with only Emilee Cherry and Elia Green being rested.

The USA has many veterans of the Series circuit, however, there are also some new additions.

The exhibition series begins Friday (Mar 2) with a 10 AM kickoff at Silver Bowl Park, followed by a 2 PM contest at Sam Boyd Stadium during the USA Men’s Sevens Tournament. Saturday (Mar. 3) will include two matches at Silver Bowl Park (9 AM and 12 PM) with the final played at Sam Boyd Stadium at 2:18 PM on Sunday. Admission to Silver Bowl Park will be free while tickets for Sam Boyd Stadium are available at USAsevens.com. All times Pacific.
