Major League Rugby is a professional USA league that began in 2018 and has teams in the U.S. and in Canada. Current MLR teams include Austin Elite Rugby, Glendale Raptors, Houston SaberCats, New Orleans Gold, Rugby United New York, San Diego Legion, Seattle Seawolves, Toronto Arrows, and the Utah Warriors. In 2020, teams in Atlanta, New England, and Washington, D.C. will join the league and have exhibition matches in 2019.

Houston SaberCats vs. New Orleans Gold The Houston SaberCats host New Orleans Gold Rugby on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7 pm CST at Constellation Field in Sugarland, Texas. This will be the first match between Major League Rugby teams and will be a preview of the opening regular season match on April 21 between these teams. Seattle Seawolves & Taylor Krumrei The Seattle Seawolves signed University of Oregon graduate and Seattle Saracens lock, Taylor Krumrei. He is 6’5″ tall and weighs 245 pounds. Taylor Krumrei began playing rugby his senior year in high school for Lamorinda Rugby Club in Moraga, California. He attended Campolindo High School from 2006 until he graduated in 2010. He then went on to play in college at the University of Oregon from 2010 to 2014 where he graduated majoring in Human Physiology. The Houston SaberCats added Paul Mullen to the team in January 2018. Mullen is a 26 years old tighthead prop, is 6′ tall, and weighs 275 pounds. Mullen is from the Aran Islands, Galway, Ireland. He is USA eligible and has previously played for the USA under-20s in Tbilisi, Georgia at the Junior World Rugby Trophy. Mullen was introduced to rugby at age 13 at the Glenstal Abby School in County Limerick and played there from 2004 through 2009. Houston SaberCats & Justin Allen The Houston SaberCats signed Justin Allen, a 6’11’, 250-pound lock, for the inaugural 2018 Major League Rugby season. Allen is from Saltmills, Wexford, Ireland, but has played for the USA Under-18s in 2013 in Argentina. He is USA Rugby qualified by his mother. Allen played youth rugby for the Wexford Wanderers, in Wexford, County Wexford for two years before moving and playing in Letterkenny in County Donegal for two seasons. Seattle Seawolves & Eagles 7s/15s player Peter Tiberio The Seattle Seawolves have signed Seattle Saracen and U.S. National 7’s team center, Peter Tiberio. He is 28 years old, 5’11” tall, and 180 pounds. Tiberio was born in Aurora, Illinois and graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School in Illinois.
